Introduction

To begin off, I’m a total normal girl, who is hooked on to YA supernatural/paranormal/fantasy books and series. I have quite a few series on my list… but the one that hit it off, was Wings By Aprilynne Pike. Before Wings, I read random stuffs. Not enough to call it hook, or a lover for books. But after Wings, a whole new story.

I remember walking pass the bookstore, and that book, the white and dark blue-ish flower petal wings-like image on the cover, and the title “Wings”, just caught me. Totally, like love on first sight, you know? I picked it up, read the synopsis and I went squealing. Faeries?! I’ve never came across faerie books my whole life, trust me, at that point of time. So I found it really refreshing. Next thing I know, I was borrowing it from the library and diving into the book! (Was not a book-buyer at that time yet. But now, yes, I proudly own books of Wings Series. :D)

Reading Wings, I couldn’t just express how I feel in words. I remember it was December 2009 when I read it. I was having my holidays, so I practically stay up most of the night, and waking up early in the morning, reading it and completing it. Oh my, by the time I closed the book, I was in love. Laurel… David… Tamani… Well not the others yet because the first book was mainly about the 3 of them. I was in love with Wings! It was sucha breath-taking debut, it felt like I was invisible but in the book with them, watching everything unroll. The fight with Barnes was intense, I was so nervous for Tamani and Laurel! So, I found out about second book, Spells, coming out half a year later, and I patiently waited.

By the time Spells came around, I was more busy, hence I wasn’t so crazy at the start. But eventually I started reading, and once I started, I was threw all into the Wings world that I have loved so much since the first book. In this book, well, I developed my team. Tamani. But I have to clarify, I love David equally. Equally. Just that if I really had to pick, and with Laurel in the picture, Tam’s my choice. I finished Spells even faster. Spells introduced us to more of Avalon, and I love Avalon! I love it so much afterwards, when I visit Twitter, I changed my “location” to Avalon. Seriously. Avalon was so so so fantastically written, with the various faeries, structures and more. Also, the introduction of Klea. Believe me, since she appeared in Spells, I already had HUGE suspicions about her…

The book was quite heartbroken for me though, with Laurel sending Tamani away, and that cliffhanger about what ‘secret’ Tamani was heading to do… So I couldn’t believe it when its a year to Illusions! But with Spells and Wings, I was contented to keep still. Oh, by the end of Spells, I was really into Wings Series already, and all, all the characters. I don’t know how, but Aprilynne just manage to make us love those characters, and appreciate them all.

Illusions was next then. Illusions. My favourite so far. I don’t know what to say! With the introduction of Yuki and the possibility of Klea being the bad one, I found myself constantly filled with curiousity, enough to make me finished the book in a day, and a little more. And Tamani being humanly. Tam Collins! It just made me fall in love with Tamani all over again. I also truly have to say how much I love Chelsea in Illusions! She’s so human, so realistic, yet so fun to read about after she knows about faeries. The times when she throw questions at Tamani, always being so understanding for Laurel, and just being so (cutely) straightforward, I just want to hug her and make her my best friend as well! Illusions ended with that bam of a BIG cliffhanger, which kills me. Killed me. But I know, Wings 4, the finale, will be worth the wait.

After finishing Illusions, I never stopped thinking about Wings everyday. Heavy withdrawal effect. I re-read the books over and over, and that’s when I came to this idea of Just Wings Things, that I just share the quotes. Because I simply love this series, the books, too much. I just wanna share about this amazing world. Very inspired. Thank you, Aprilynne. I started JWT, and making images of quotes, and continue waiting throughout the 1 year. Counting months, counting days. Slowly satisfying myself with some occasional quotes of Wings 4 shared on her twitter, the reveal of the title “Destined”, (which I really love) and the cover image. The cover was PERFECT. Took me away once I saw it. :)

And with that, time flies. I can’t believe, 1 year just passed like that. While I was still counting, 9 months, 8 months, now it’s down to days. I’ve pre-ordered Destined, but it will take quite awhile to reach me. I can’t wait to read it, I’m sure it will be a perfect and wonderful finale. (I’ll talk about it when I finished it and recover next time.)

Now, I want to say, Wings Series is truly the series I love and favourite the most. True. And for now, it’s quite irreplaceable. The characters too. Laurel, Tamani, David, Chelsea, all of avalon, everyone. Thank you Aprilynne, for bringing this series to us. I wish Destined will be a great seller, and the Wings Series? Continue to gain more and more readers. Even with the finale, it will always exists around.
