Thoughts on Destined
I wasn't intending to write down my thoughts for Destined so soon. I figured I would need time to recover first. But after completing the book this evening, it was all I could do to write down my thoughts as soon as possible. It's these immediate thoughts and feelings that are so overwhelming... So... How do I start?

Thoughts includes Spoilers. You've been warned.

Destined gave me everything that I have wished for since the first book, and even more. It was a perfect, wonderful and really fitting ending. I couldn't have thought of a better way to end this series. Not without putting everything like that. Even though Aprilynne mentioned that the letter was an "optional", I preferred to treat it as part of Destined. An epilogue of sorts. Because the letter illustrated reality. It somewhat ended the book perfectly. "What really does the rejected member of any supernatural love triangle have to look forward to? Especially a human." I honestly agree. As painful as it could be to see David coming to this decision, it was actually such a true and right decision from him. Who could understand how he truly feels after wielding the excalibur, after everything he has gone through? I was always a Team Tamani. But I have always adored David equally. David himself in this particular book, really takes his character to a whole new level. I especially LOVED where David mentioned Tam had been a great friend to him, and asking Chelsea to introduced him, that he missed him already. I love, adore, that friendship. Not only between the two, but also between the four of the main characters.

That brings us back to the main plot revolving in Destined. The day of battle that David, Laurel, Tamani and Chelsea bonded, worked together and did everything they can to protect Avalon. It hurts me to see Avalon being so damaged, hurts me to see so many faes lost their lives in the midst of this heart-pounding battle. Especially the ones we've known since from the first book or Spells. It torn me to see them gone, just like that. The whole book, the battle, the invasion of trolls into Avalon, was so fast-paced and not even a short break is allowed in between. The fights, the twists, the plot developments just kept coming. I was so caught up in the action - everything was so epic. It was like watching everything unfold infront of my own pair of eyes. The weapons, the potions, the theories... It was just exactly how a strong, epic battle should be like!

One person, no, one faerie thats really worth mentioning, was Yuki. I never liked her, never did, in Illusions. But oh, dear Yuki. She's... I can't find the right word to describe her. I feel such pity for her, how she was manipulated, how good she would have been if she wasn't... I appreciated every single deed she did for Tamani towards the end. It was like a love so strong. "Ashiteru." She had said. That blown me to bits. Cried.

The whole battle came to a fitting end. And I enjoyed it. Grieving, nervous as it was, it was appropriately closed up. I loved and am so grateful towards how much Chelsea, and especially David had helped the faeries. They were just humans, yet they were willing to give up so much, sacrifice so much of their fears which I'm not sure any other human would. That was why when Laurel  made her choice, as happy as I was, I still feel really sorry for David. Laurel aside, David had to deserve so much more, so much better for who he was and still is after everything that happened.

Lastly, I have to comment, chapter 27. I could type 10 paragraphs on it yet not done voicing my thoughts about that so let's keep it short, simple, and sweet. The good scandal of this sentry and a fall faerie... :)

"She loved him, had always loved him. She had even knew, somehow."

Aprilynne did it alright. Throughout the four books, we really can feel how Laurel's feelings for Tamani came by. Whether she deny or not, we must all admit we could feel that deep down, Laurel had loved Tamani all along. The way Aprilynne justify Laurel's choice, it was so much better than expected. I can't say anymore, I adore them so much that I actually don't know how to say. And I love savouring every single sweet moment between the two that I have wished for since the beginning. And for the 2 of them, the ending of Destined was just the beginning of their forever. I will always love Laurel and Tamani.

And so will I always love David and Chelsea. And Avalon. And everyone that has a part in Wings Series. Even Klea.... Maybe :P After everything, what I came to love the most about Wings Series was how fates have twisted throughout the 4 books, the entire series, that brings Laurel, Tamani, David and Chelsea, together. Bonded, bind together. Memory elixir for David or not, I believe the bond shared between the four of them is something that can never be replaced in their hearts. Or even ours. :)

Thanks Aprilynne, for the wild and amazing journey this 3 years. It was the one and only series I have grown so attached to. Not like books, like life. My favourite series, and always will be.
